A new review of more than 40 years of Métis health research, led by the MNO's Healing and Wellness Branch in collaboration with ICES (formerly the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences), has been published in the International Journal for Equity in Health.
The review highlights several key findings: Métis health research is growing, Métis involvement in research is increasing, and chronic diseases and mental health are among the most frequently studied topics.
Despite this progress, significant gaps remain, particularly in research on children's health, Métis men and gender-diverse people. The authors emphasize the need for greater funding and investment in Métis-specific health research.
